Overview
At 136 metres it is slightly lower than the Great Pyramid, but the surviving cap of polished Tura limestone shows what all three once looked like. Its causeway runs down to the Valley Temple beside the Sphinx, a granite-lined hall where the king’s body was prepared — the best preserved Old Kingdom building on the plateau. The interior is simpler than Khufu’s: one descending passage, one chamber.
Highlights
The Valley Temple at the bottom of the causeway is the piece to see, and it is included with plateau entry. The pyramid’s own interior is usually open and far less crowded than the Great Pyramid’s. Stand where the causeway meets the temple for the view that puts the Sphinx directly in front of the pyramid.
