Overview
Lan Na, with its capital at Chiang Mai, had a northern character in textiles and dress under the culture of the Tai Yuan people.
Key garments and style
Women wrapped a tubular skirt (pha sin) woven with bands and intricate patterns, with a short blouse or cloth above. Handwoven silk and cotton and silver ornaments were prized; men wore the chong kraben or a wrapped lower garment.
Transition
Lan Na later took Ayutthaya and Burmese influence while carrying its weaving tradition to the present.
