The capsules are enclosed and rotate slowly enough that you board without the wheel stopping, so this is a viewing platform rather than a ride. What it is genuinely good for is orientation on a first day: the Houses of Parliament and the Abbey are directly across the water, the City towers cluster to the east, and the river’s bends explain the shape of everything else.

Book a timed ticket online — the queue without one is the main complaint people have. Dusk is the best slot, with the buildings lit and the sky still holding light. If the day is grey and low, skip it: you are paying for a view, and there is no refund for cloud.
