Overview
Rain running off Uluru collects in the plunge pool here and holds through dry months, which is why the surrounding rock shelters carry paintings and grinding hollows. Anangu tell the Kuniya and Liru story on this stretch of rock: the marks in the wall are read as the record of that fight. Photography of some rock faces is restricted, and the signs say exactly where.
Highlights
Walk it in the early morning, when the wall is shaded and the birds come in to drink. The rock art shelter partway along is interpreted on site, with the Anangu account given first. Combine it with the Mala Walk at the other end of the base for a fuller sense of the rock at ground level, rather than from the sunset car park.
