Overview
All three are flat coral islands ringed by reef, and the reason to come is in the water — green turtles are common enough that most snorkellers see one, and a set of submerged human figures placed off Meno in 2017 has become an artificial reef. The islands have no springs, so fresh water is shipped or made, which is worth remembering at the shower. The 2018 Lombok earthquake damaged them badly and emptied them for a season; the rebuilding is finished.
Highlights
Snorkel from the north-east shore of Meno for the turtles and the statues, or take the island-hopping boat that stops at all three. Walk around whichever island you stay on — the circuits are one to two hours, and the far side of each is empty. The horse carts, cidomo, are the subject of long-standing welfare complaints, and walking is genuinely quicker over most of these distances.
